Joshua M. Alexander has been writing and creating music since 1992. What began as a passion for songwriting during his teenage years eventually grew into a collection of hundreds of original songs spanning more than three decades of creativity.
Over the years, Joshua wrote music whenever inspiration struck. Some songs were recorded on simple cassette recorders. Others existed only as lyrics, chord progressions, rough demos, or unfinished ideas waiting for the right moment to come to life. Like many independent musicians of his generation, he often lacked access to the professional studios, production tools, and resources needed to fully realize the music he heard in his head.
Despite pursuing a successful career in technology, marketing, and entrepreneurship, music never disappeared. It remained a constant creative outlet and an important part of who he was.
Today, through The ColourMind, Joshua is revisiting decades of original material and bringing those ideas to life using modern recording techniques, digital production tools, and emerging AI-assisted music technologies. What once existed only as notebooks, demo tapes, guitar riffs, piano melodies, and unfinished concepts can now be developed into complete musical works and shared with the world.
Joshua is a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, piano, and drums. His musical influences span a wide range of genres and artists, including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Electric Light Orchestra, progressive rock, classic rock, country, blues, acoustic music, and experimental sound design. These influences can be heard throughout The ColourMind catalog, which intentionally avoids being confined to a single musical style.
To date, Joshua has written well over 200 original songs. Some were written recently, while others have been waiting decades to be completed. The ColourMind serves as the home for this growing catalog of music, allowing both old and new ideas to coexist and evolve together.
